Description

Portofino itself is a lovely resort area but surrounding it is a view into the true Italian lifestyle.
Lovely villages dot the countryside and each lends its own taste of culture to the package.

From Portofino you will enjoy a scenic ride through the elegant streets of Santa Margherita. Built along an inlet on the Golfo del Tiguillio, Santa Margherita is a lively resort with a beautiful harbor and grand hotels and villas. There is a lavish rococo church of Santa Margherita d’Antiochia which gave the town its name. Originally 2 towns that merged together spawned a hill in between that has been transformed into the public Parco di Villa Durazzo. There is a villa at the top form the mid-16th century that still has its original furnishings as well as an art collection.

Driving uphill from this town through olive trees and elegant villas, we’ll reach Ruta with its panorama of Genoa’s gulf. Time for a photo before moving off to Camogli, a small is a small Italian fishing village and tourist resort located on the west side of the peninsula of Portofino. It is most known for its colorful houses that line behind the beach. The colors once helped the fishermen of Camogli, easier to catch the way back to their port.

Not far from here is a small town known for its focaccia al formaggio, typical melted cheese bread. You will have the chance to enjoy some of this local dish, which we have all had in the past but none quite so tasty, in the village of Recco. The local cheese that is used, called Stracchino also known as crescenza is a type of Italian cow’s-milk cheese, and this is a stop that will stand out in your databank when you return.

Time permitting we will stop in Rapallo and then back to the port.

Kind note: When you land on your ship you have to take the shuttle bus (orange or blue) and get off at the last stop which is the Harbour of La Spezia where your driver will be waiting with welcome sign under your name and the name of our companies such as:
